Jessica Johns is a queer nehiyaw aunty with English-Irish ancestry and a member of Sucker Creek First Nation. Her debut novel, Bad Cree, won the MacEwan Book of the Year award, the Georges Bugnet Award for Fiction, the ALA Alex Award, and was selected for the 2024 CBC Canada Reads.
Her fiction, poetry, criticism, and nonfiction has been published widely in Canada and internationally. She has appeared at many literary festivals and her visual art has appeared at Rhubarb Festival, grunt gallery, and at Latitude 53.
